Driver Falls Asleep, Crashes Pickup, MOSCOW, July 2, 2016 - At approximately 10:35 pm on July 1, 2016, a silver 2003 Ford F-150, driven by Danny Vaughn, 63, of Nacogdoches, was north-bound on US-59 in Moscow. Vaughn apparently fell asleep at the wheel. His pickup veered left, went through the south-bound lanes, left the pavement, struck a brick sign and slammed into a utility pole at 59 and FM-350. The impact knocked the pole in half. Half of the pole fell into the back of the truck's cab. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, Corporal Adam Norris with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Kevin Burman and Darwon Evans with the Texas Highway Patrol. Vaughn was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on 350 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. No citations were issued. A rollback wrecker from Riley Wrecker Service recovered Vaughn's vehicle and it will be stored in Corrigan.
Corporal Adam Norris with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, also assisted in the accident investigation.
Vaughn's vehicle was recovered by Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan.
