Young Driver Attempts Unsafe U-Turn, Gets Waylaid, SCHWAB CITY, June 29, 2017 - At approximately 3:30 pm on June 29, 2017, a green 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup, driven by Nicole Conley, 18, of Goodrich, was south-bound on US-146 near FM-2665. Conley decided to make a U-turn and head north, so she pulled to the shoulder and then cut left, but failed to yield to a south-bound red 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup driven by Ronald Magnus, 62, of Livingston. Magnus' vehicle slammed into the driver's side of Conley's vehicle. The impact caused Magnus' pickup to roll one time coming to rest upright on the pavement (see video below). Conley's pickup also came to rest on the pavement. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Sergeant Jason Paske with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Donny Akers with the Texas Highway Patrol. Both drivers chose to be transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital by private vehicle and refused ambulance transport. Traffic on 146 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Conley is facing a citation for turning while unsafe. Magnus' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Premier Autoplex in Livingston. Conley's vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service and will be stored in Goodrich.
