Accident at Highway 59 and Loop 393, GOODRICH, June 29, 2008 - A full sized pickup pulling a trailer broad-sided a small car in Goodrich today.  On June 29, 2008, at approximately 3:51 pm, a black, 1995 Saturn driven by Tonya Swarthout, 21, of Goodrich was at a crossover on Highway 59 and attempted to crossover to the south end of Loop 393.  Swarthout failed to yield right-of-way to an oncoming white 2007, full size Dodge truck pulling a trailer and being driven by Laurence McAllister, 53, also of Goodrich.  McAllister collided with Swarthout with a broad-side glancing blow.  Swarthout's vehicle sustained heavy damage to the passenger's side rear quarter of her car.  McAllister's truck sustained minor front end damage.  McAllister pulled his truck over to the side of the Highway.  DPS Troopers Ramey Bass, Darwon Evans, and Brent Henry were dispatched to the scene of the accident.  Also at the accident were two Polk County Sheriff's Deputies.  An ambulance from Americare Ambulance Service arrived and checked both parties for injuries.  Both parties refused to be transported to the hospital, although Swarthout was walking with a noticeable limp.  The right lane of 59 South was blocked while the accident was being cleared.  Swarthout was issued citations for no insurance, no driver's license, and failure to yield right-of-way.  McAllister had insurance and both parties involved had their seat belts fastened.  A rollback wrecker from Ken's towing arrived to tow Swarthout's car and the car will be stored a Harrison's Body Shop in Livingston.  The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing shortly before 5 pm.
