37 year old Robby Akins, of Livingston, rolled his pickup into a utility pole off 3126 near Yarborough Loop and Hardin Road.
Driver Rolls Pickup, Alcohol Suspected, YARBOROUGH LOOP, June 26, 2016 - Shortly after 4 pm on June 26, 2016, calls came in to the Polk County Sheriff's Office to report a vehicle (older model blue Chevy pickup) driving on US-190 West.  According to the callers, the vehicle was driving very erratically and ran other vehicles off the road.  The vehicle turned off of 190 onto FM-3126 (the caution light) and headed south-bound.  About a mile later the vehicle (driven by Robby Roy Akins, 37, of Livingston) left the pavement to the right and went into a ditch.  As the pickup was coming up out of the ditch (to the other side), the front end caught the ground causing the pickup to roll multiple times.  The pickup rolled into a utility pole as it was impacted on the driver's side door.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Scenic Loop Volunteer Department, Corporal Jacob Chapman with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Kevin Burman and Zach Lenderman with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Akins was trapped in his vehicle.  Volunteer firemen were able to get the door open to free Akins.  He was laid out onto the ground and treated by EMS personnel.  Akins was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.  Traffic on 3126 was not blocked during investigation and cleanup.  Akins smelled strongly of alcohol and there was lots of cold beer that was strewn at the scene that came from his pickup.  Akins was cited for driving while intoxicated (second), driving with suspended license due to a previous DWI, no insurance, and open container.  A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Akins' vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
