Gust of Wind Causes Small Plane to Crash While Landing, LEGGETT, June 25, 2023 - Shortly after 2 pm on June 25, 2023, the pilot of a BearHawk Five aircraft, was landing his small airplane on his property (4.5 miles off of US-59). As the pilot was landing, a sudden gust of wind coming from the south pushed the plane into the outside corner of its hangar. Texas EMS Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Johnny Wilkerson and Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. Fortunately, the pilot and his passenger sustained only bumps and bruises, but were otherwise okay. Trooper Wilkerson executed a preliminary investigation, before the accident is turned over the Federal Aviation Administration for a full investigation.
