Illegal Left Turn = Life Flight x 2, LIVINGSTON, June 24, 2009 - According to the Livingston Police Department, shortly after 1 pm on June 24, 2009 a silver 2002 Mercury Villager driven by April Toon, 26, of Livingston was east-bound on US-190 in Livingston.  Toon attempted a sudden left turn into the Sonic parking lot from the left lane, but not the center turning lane.  The sudden near stop in busy traffic caused a blue 2000 Chrysler Voyager driven by Dewana Storment, 27, of Livingston, who was oncoming right behind Toon, to swerve in order to avoid hitting Toon from behind.  Storment struck Toon from behind with a glancing blow.  Toon's vehicle came to rest in the turning lane, and Storment's vehicle came to rest in the right lane.  Livingston Police Officers Leon Middleton and Chad Ward were dispatched to the scene along with 3 ambulances from Americare.  3 passengers from Storment's vehicle were hospitalized.  Two of the passengers, an 8 and a 10 year old, both girls,  were life-flighted to Houston from Livingston Memorial.  The third passenger, an adult female, was transported to Livingston Memorial hospital with a broken arm.  The right lane on the east-bound side was blocked as the accident was being investigated and cleared.  Toon was issued a citation for attempting an illegal left turn.  Both parties were issued citations for no insurance.  Both vehicles were recovered by a rollback wrecker from Fawbush Body Shop where they'll be stored on US-59 South of Livingston.  The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing shortly after 2 pm.
