Driver Slams Into Back of 18 Wheeler, LEGGETT, June 23, 2011 - At approximately 9:05 pm on June 22, 2011, a silver 1992 Ford Ranger driven by Richard Earl Foster, 69, of Livingston was north-bound on US-59 approaching Leggett. Foster failed to notice an 18 wheeler directly in front of him that was driven by Larry Keenom, 39, of Lake Jackson. Keenom had slowed down and was attempting to cross over to the south-bound side of 59 when Foster slammed into the back of Keenom's trailer. Americare Ambulance service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Vance Berry with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Joe Cole with the Texas Highway Patrol. Emergency personnel carefully removed Foster from his vehicle and loaded him onto an ambulance and transported Foster to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. One lane to traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was blocked as the accident was being investigated and cleared. According to Trooper Cole, Foster will be issued a citation for failure to control speed. A rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service recovered Foster's vehicle and it will be stored in Livingston. The scene was cleared shortly after 10 pm.
