Sleepy Driver Rolls Truck, Alcohol Suspected, CORRIGAN, June 20, 2010 - At approximately 10:42 pm on June 19, 2010 a brown 2004 Dodge truck driven by Clarence Gene Colquitt, 56, of Corrigan, was north-bound on US-59 about a mile south of Corrigan when he says he fell asleep at the wheel and left the road to the right, over corrected to the left and rolled his truck into the grassy median. Colquitt's truck came to rest upright in the grass. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, Corrigan Police Officer Kevin Saintes, Sergeant Christian Schanmier and Deputy Darren Crow and DPS Trooper David Morris. Emergency personnel removed Colquitt from his truck and loaded him onto an Ambulance which then drove him to Lufkin Memorial Hospital. One lane of traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Trooper Morris, Colquitt admitted to have been drinking and driving. Colquitt will be cited for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Colquitt did have insurance. A rollback wrecker from Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan recovered Colquitt's vehicle and it will be stored in Corrigan. The scene was cleared by 11:45 pm.
