Failure to Yield Hospitalizes 1, LIVINGSTON, June 19, 2019 - At approximately 9:55 am on June 19, 2019, a white 2004 Toyota Corolla, driven by Krystal Simmons, 30, of Livingston, was east-bound on Church Street (next to Jack in the Box). Simmons attempted a left turn onto N. Houston, but failed to yield to a west-bound white 2004 Chevy 3500 pickup, driven by Clarence Russo, 62, of Livingston. The vehicles collided. The impact pushed Simmons' vehicle to the edge of the intersection. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, Officers Kevin Ward, Tara Burman, and Sergeant Darrell Newman with Livingston Police Department. They were assisted by Deputy Adrian Ontiveros with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Simmons was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Russo was physically okay. Traffic was partially blocked at the intersection. Simmons was cited for failure to yield right-of-way. Simmons' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Russo's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.
