Woman Passes Away From Injuries Sustained in Auto/Pedestrian Accident, CONROE, June 20, 2018 - One of two pedestrians that were struck by a vehicle while walking at night in Onalaska has passed away from her injuries. Naoma Fabubian Herring, 57, of Onalaska, reportedly passed away at Conroe Regional Hospital on June 19. Herring and her husband were walking together on FM-3186 in Onalaska during night hours when they were both struck by a passing vehicle. The married couple were allegedly walking within the path of north-bound traffic when the tragic accident occurred. Herring's husband, James Leslie Herring, 67, remains in critical condition in Conroe Regional Hospital. The accident is still under investigation by the Onalaska Police Department.

Married Couple Pedestrians Struck by Vehicle, ONALASKA, June 17, 2018 - At approximately 10:10 pm on June 16, 2018, a married couple was walking on FM-3186 toward town (north,toward 190). The couple was about a quarter of a mile from 190 when they were struck by a silver 2000 Lincoln Navigator (driven by Gregory Wayne Hernandez, 39, of Onalaska). The Navigator was also north-bound and didn't see the couple in the road. The couple, James Leslie Herring, 67, and his wife, Naoma Fabubian Herring, 57, both of Onalaska, were in the area of traffic when the impact occurred. Americare and Allegiance Ambulance Services were dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Trooper John Allen with the Texas Highway Patrol, and Officer Anthony Whitten with the Onalaska Police Department. Both sustained major injuries and were transported by ambulance to a landing zone next to the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department where two PHi Air Medical Helicopters landed and flew both to Conroe Regional Hospital. All traffic on 3186 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Hernandez and his passengers were physically okay and his vehicle was driven from the scene. This accident remains under investigation by the Onalaska Police Department.

Both victims were transported by ambulance to a landing zone next to Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department.
James Herring is wheeled to a waiting helicopter.
Naoma Herring was loaded into a helicopter minutes later.
