Driver Deceased After Drifting Into 18 Wheeler, CORRIGAN, June 10, 2024 - Shortly after 4 pm on June 10, 2024, an 18 wheeler, driven by Adan Cerrillo, 50, of Henderson, was west-bound on FM-287 East when an east-bound green 1998 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Wyman Lee Scroggins, 69, of Corrigan, drifted out of his lane and into the side of Cerrillo's 18 Wheeler. The Jeep impacted the driver's side fuel tank and continued into the tires knocking one wheel off and disabling the 18 wheeler. Scroggins' Jeep slid to a stop on the pavement (817 block of 287). Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, and Corporal Fitz Foster with the Corrigan Police Department. Corporal Foster was assisted by Officer Daniel Johnson and Corrigan Police Chief, Darrell Gibson. Scroggins was killed on impact. Cerillo was not injured. All traffic on 287 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Justice of the Peace, Jamie Richardson filed an inquest at the scene. Scroggins was transported from the scene by a first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home. Both vehicles were recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan. This accident remains under investigation by the Corrigan Police Department.

The fatal accident occurred in the 817 block of FM-287 inside the Corrigan City Limits.
50 year old Adan Cerrillo, of Henderson, was driving this 18 wheeler west-bound on FM-287 East when another vehicle (in the east-bound lane) drifted into the side of his 18 wheeler.
69 year old Wyman Lee Scroggins, of Corrigan, was driving this 1998 Jeep Cherokee east-bound when he drifted into the side of Cerrillo's 18 wheeler. Scroggins was killed on impact.
Scroggins' vehicle intitially impacted the driver's side fuel tank. The fuel tank was damage, but noy puctured.
