Crash and Burn; Driver Bails Out as Large Truck Goes Down In Flames, LEGGETT, June 5, 2010 - At approximately 11 am on June 5, 2010, a large container truck (2007 Mack truck) driven by Virgil E. McClelland, III, 42, of Livingston was east-bound on FM-942 West when a when according to McClelland, a fire developed under the dashboard, as McClelland was bringing the large truck to a stop, the fire was growing rapidly. McClellan jumped out of the truck before it stopped and the truck crashed into a steel fence where it came to rest and burned. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and DPS Troopers Kevin Burman, Darwon Evans, and David Flowers. McClelland sustained minor injuries and was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital by Ambulance. The fire totaled the truck which was property of Waste Services. No citations were issued. The burned out truck was recovered by Smith Towing out of Shepherd.
