Mercedes Benz Goes Over Private Bridge, GOODRICH, June 5, 2009 - At approximately 9 pm on June 4, 2009 a gray 1989 Mercedes Benz Sedan driven by William Taylor of Goodrich was east-bound on Hoot Owl Hollow Road and attempted to drive over a poorly maintained private bridge that's intended for vehicles to cross and people to walk on. Some support on the right side broke forcing Taylor's vehicle to the right. When the car started to go downward, an alert William Taylor jumped out of the car onto the bridge just before the car went straight down and came to rest nose down in a creek. Deputies Sergeant Rob Thomas, Jamie Buie, Constable Bill Cunningham and DPS Trooper David Morris were dispatched to the scene along with Americare Ambulance Service. EMS personnel from Americare treated Taylor at the scene and transported him to Livingston Memorial Hospital with very minor injuries. The road and bridge are private and are not maintained by Polk County. At time of press, Taylor's vehicle was still below the bridge nose down in the creek.
William Taylor's 1989 Mercedes Benz rests precariously below a poorly maintained bridge.
