Trooper Sean Barnes deals with a mess north of Corrigan.
Sorry Wet Sordid Affair on 59, WAKEFIELD, May 30, 2023 - At approximately 6:20 pm on May 30, 2023, the driver of a red Mitsubishi Outlander was north-bound on US-59 about 6.5 north of the Corrigan City Limits when his car began to hydroplane. The hydroplaning car slammed into the end of a guardrail. The driver of a silver Scion sedan slowed down and was slammed from behind by an 18 wheeler. Scion was knocked into the Mitsubishi, and also struck a white Jeep. The 18 wheeler left the pavement to the left and came to rest in the mud. Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol was dispatched to investigate and was assisted by other Troopers from Angelina County, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Constable Mike Nettles and Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department. Amazingly there were no injuries. One person opted to go to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan was summoned to clean up the mess and was joined by another wrecker service out of Lufkin. Any citations will be sorted out and doled out by the Texas Highway Patrol.
