Firemen from Livingston used the Jaws-of-Life to get a passenger out of this 2023 Ford Expedition.
2 Vehicle Crash Hospitalizes 2, GOODRICH, May 29, 2025 - At approximately 7:05 pm on May 29, 2025, a white 2023 Ford Expedition driven by Justin Alexander Hayes, 30, of Silsbee, was east-bound on FM-1988 West. As Hayes was passing FM-2969, the driver of a black 2014 Mazda 6 pulled off of 2969 directly in front of Hayes. The vehicles collided both vehicles came to rest on the pavement approximately 50 yards apart. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments, Detective Kayla Hemperly with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Sean Barnes with The Texas Highway Patrol. The driver of the Mazda, Kimberly Charles, 64, of Goodrich, was shook up, but had no life-threatening injuries. Hayes' female passenger, was entrapped. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the door off and gain access to Hayes' passenger and safely transfer her to a stretcher. The passenger and Kimberly Charles were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. Charles is likely facing a citation for failure to yield. Charles' vehicle was recovered by Pop's Wrecker Service out of Livingston. Hayes' vehicle was recovered by his preferred wrecker service (not from Polk County).
64 year old Kimberly Charles, of Goodrich, was driving this 2014 Mazda 6 when she pulled off of FM-2969 onto FM-1988 West, but failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle.
30 year old Justin Alexander Hayes, of Silsbee was driving this 2023 Ford Expedition. Hayes' passenger was transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital.
