20 year old Matthew Scott Phillips, of Livingston, was transported to a Beaumont hospital. Phillips had symptoms of head injuries.
Driver Rolls Pickup, Hospitalized, SEGNO, May 26, 2018 - At approximately 4:05 pm on  May 26, 2018, a black 1998 Toyota pickup driven by Matthew Scott Phillips, 20, of Livingston, was east-bound on FM-943 (about 5 miles from US-146).  As Phillips came over a hill, he swerved to avoid a vehicle that was pulled over to assist a broken down vehicle.  Phillips lost control of his vehicle and left the pavement to the right, began to slide sideways, and slammed (driver's side) into a tree, then turned over, coming to rest on its drivers side facing west.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Segno, South Polk County, and Holiday Lake Estates Volunteer Fire Departments, Deputy Victor White with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Phillips was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Beaumont with what appeared to be head injuries.  Traffic on 943 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup.  No citations have been issued as this accident remains under investigation.  A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Phillips' vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in  Livingston.
