Name Released of Young Woman Killed in Head On Collision, LIVINGSTON, May 26, 2019 - The name of the young woman who was killed on May 25, 2019, has been released. Rebecca Joy Medina, 19, of Madisonville was west-bound on US-190 West (in the Spring Creek area) when she allegedly had an asthma attack. Her vehicle crossed the center line and slammed head on into an east-bound Jeep Wrangler driven by 55 year old Joseph Johnson, of Livingston. Both Johnson and Medina were flown to Conroe Regional Hospital. Sadly, Medina passed away from her injuries shortly after arriving.

Head On Accident Turns Fatal, SPRING CREEK, May 26, 2019 - At approximately 10 pm on May 25, 2019, a blue 2012 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Joseph Johnson, 55, of Livingston, was east-bound on US-190 West (a short distance west FM-2457). A west-bound black 2008 Ford Escape (driver's name being withheld at this time) crossed the center line and slammed head on into Johnson. The vehicles slid to the east-bound shoulder where they came to rest. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Scenic Loop VFD, Sergeant Adam Norris and Deputy Byron Dunaway with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Colton McQuilkin and Zach Lenderman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut open the Ford. The female driver was transported to a landing zone that was set up at FM-2457 and 190 West. Both Johnson and the driver of the Ford were flown to Conroe Regional Hospital. Sadly, the driver of the Ford passed away shortly after arrival. Johnson sustained serious injuries. Johnson's wife was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic on the east-bound side of 190 was completely shut down during investigation, cleanup, and flight operations. The driver of the Ford was reportedly having a medical problem (asthma attack) when her vehicle crossed the center line. The Ford was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The Jeep was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
