Driver Rolls Vehicle, Flown to Houston, GOODRICH, May 24, 2019 - At approximately 1:40 pm on May 24, 2019, a green 2003 Honda Accord, driven by Carlene Thomas, 73, of Livingston, was north-bound on US-59 when her vehicle veered off the pavement to the left and entered the center median where her vehicle rolled and came to rest upright facing east.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston and Goodrich Volunteer Fire Departments and Corporal Ramey Bass, John Allen, and Ashlee White with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Thomas was trapped in her vehicle.  Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to get Thomas' door open.  Thomas was carefully removed and loaded into an ambulance.  A helicopter from PHi Air Medical was summoned.  A landing zone was set up in the north-bound lanes.  Thomas was flown to Conroe Regional Hospital with serious injuries.  All traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation, cleanup, and flight operations.  No citations were issued.  Thomas' vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker and will be stored in Goodrich.
