Pickup Loses Wheel, Rolls, 1 Flown, MOSCOW, May 23, 2019 - At approximately 8:45 pm on May 22, 2019, a white 2005 Ford Bronco, driven by Melkin Mejia, 38, of Houston, was south-bound on US-59 in the south end of Moscow. The driver's side rear tire became disconnected from Mejia's vehicle. His vehicle left the pavement to the left. Mejia over corrected to the right as he completely lost control. His vehicle rolled (ejecting 1 passenger in the process). The vehicle came to rest on the passenger's side in the grass on the right side of 59 South. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene, along with the Livingston and Corrigan Volunteer Fire Departments, Deputy Byron Dunaway with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Colton McQuilkin with the Texas Highway Patrol. The passenger that was ejected came to rest on the shoulder and has been identified as Ricardo Carballo, 20, of Houston. Carballo was carefully loaded into an ambulance. The medics immediately began CPR. A PHi Air Medical Helicopter was summoned and landed in the middle of 59 South. Carballo was stabilized and flown to Conroe Regional Hospital. Driver, Melkin Mejia was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Another passenger refused medical treatment and appeared to be physically okay. All traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation, cleanup, and flight operations. Mejia was cited for no driver's license. The vehicle was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan.

38 year old Melkin Mejia, of Houston, was driving this 2005 Ford Ranger when his pickup lost a rear wheel.
The rear, driver's side wheel is missing from Mejia's pickup after the wheel became disconnected while driving.
Mejia's vehicle was turned upright and recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan (Investigator, Trooper Colton McQuilkin pictured).
