Accident Hospitalizes 1, LIVINGSTON, May 17, 2014 - Shortly before 8 am on May 17, 2014, a black 2012 Nissa Altima driven by Shante Adams, 33, of Jasper, was west-bound on US-190 East. Adams suddenly slammed into the the back of a white Dodge van driven by Rodger Derden, 70, of Livingston. Derden had just pulled off of Crystal Lakes West Road into the west-bound lanes of 190 but failed to yield to Adams. Both vehicles pulled over to the west-bound shoulder of 190. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Dustin Lowery with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Donny Akers with the Texas Highway Patrol. Rodger Derden was physically okay, however, Shante Adams was carefully removed from her vehicle by EMS personnel and transported by ambulance to Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The left lane of 190 E (west-bound side) was blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Trooper Akers, Derden was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop intersection. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Adams' vehicle and it will be stored at Bounds Autoplex in Livingston.

Adams was treated at the scene and removed from her vehicle by EMS personnel.
Adams was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Adams' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing.
