Jennifer Ann Helfer, 25, of Richmond struck the rear of an 18 wheeler, then was struck by another oncoming 18 wheeler.
Two 18 Wheelers and One Car Accident, GOODRICH, May 17, 2010 - Shortly before 5 am on May 17, 2010, an 18 wheeler driven by Marshall Wilson, 55, of Spring, was north-bound on US-59 in the right lane when he was struck from behind by a brown 1995 Mitsubishi Gallant driven by Jennifer Ann Helfer, 25, of Richmond.  The impact left Helfer's vehicle immobilized in the right lane.  Approximately 1 minute later another north-bound 18 wheeler driven by Jacob Lakoduk, 29, of Opelika, Alabama, swerved into the left lane to avoid colliding with Helfer.  The back of Lakoduk's rig grazed Helfer's Mitsubishi.  Both 18 wheelers pulled over to the right shoulder a short distance ahead.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies David Ramsey, Lee Rogers, and DPS Troopers David Morris and Darwon Evans.  Helfer was treated at the scene by EMS Personnel and transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  One lane of traffic was blocked as the accident was being investigated and cleared.  All parties had insurance.  Helfer was issued a citation for failure to control speed.  A rollback wrecker from Fawbush Wrecker Service recovered Helfer's vehicle and it will be stored in Goodrich.  The scene was cleared by 6:45 am.

Helfer was struck from behind by another 18 wheeler approximately 1 minute later. Fortunately the 18 wheeler only grazed Helfer's vehicle.
This 18 wheeler was driven by Jacob Lakoduk of Opelika Alabama. Lakoduk did a great job of avoiding a straight on collision with Helfer. DPS Trooper David Morris said that this accident could've been much worse.
Jennifer Ann Helfer was treated by EMS Personnel at the scene and transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital.
