Car Strikes 18 Wheeler, 1 Hospitalized, LIVINGSTON, May 16, 2017 - Shortly before 1 pm on May 16, 2017, a gray 2005 Nissan Sentra, driven by Carrie Anne Sandusky, 26, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-59 a short distance north of the Livingston City Limits. Sandusky was driving in the left lane (fast lane) and attempted to pull into the right lane but failed to yield to a red 18 wheeler driven by Curtis Edward Reece, Jr., 65, of Humble. Reece's rig impacted the passenger's side of Sandusky's car. Sandusky's vehicle came to rest partially on the road and the grass of the left lane. Reece pulled over to the right shoulder. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Sergeant Glenn Edwards with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Darwon Evans and Donny Akers with the Texas Highway Patrol. Sandusky was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Reece was physically okay. Traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Sandusky is likely facing a citation for unsafe lane change. A rollback wrecker from Fawbush Body Shop recovered Sandusky's vehicle and it will be stored in Goodrich.
