2 Vehicle Accident Hospitalizes 5, SODA, May 5, 2019 - At approximately 4:15 pm on May 4, 2019, a white Ford Fusion, driven by Efrain Vargas, 61, of Pasadena, was west-bound on US-190 East. Vargas' vehicle suddenly T-boned a silver Toyota Camry driven by Danny Rittenhouse, 58, of Porter. Rittenhouse was east-bound and attempted a left turn onto Stutts Hill Road but failed to yield to Vargas. The impact knocked Rittenhouse's vehicle into the grass on the west-bound side. Vargas' vehicle came to rest in the middle of 190. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Officers from Alabama Coushatta Police Department and Troopers Donny Akers and Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Rittenhouse was removed from his vehicle and transported by ambulance to Chi Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Vargas and his passenger were also transported by ambulance to CHI. Rittenhouse's two passengers were trapped in his car. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the doors off of Rittenhouse's vehicle in order to retrieve his two passengers. The two passengers from Rittenhouse's vehicle were transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone (Soda Baptist Church) where they were loaded into two different CHI Air Medical Helicopters and flown to Conroe Regional Hospital. Rittenhouse was cited for failure to yield at left turn. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Both vehicles were recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.

The accident occurred on 190 East at Stutts Hill Road. 58 year old Danny Rittenhouse, of Porter, was driving this vehicle and attmpted a left turn onto Stutts Hill Road but failed to yield to an oncoming Ford Fusion.
61 year old Efrain Vargas, of Pasadena, was driving this Ford Fusion. Vargas' vehicle T-boned Rittenhouse's vehicle when Rittenhouse attempted a left turn in front of Vargas, failing to yield.
Rittenhouse's 2 passengers were trapped in his car. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the doors off the vehicle and safely remove the passengers.
Trooper Donny Akers is the primary accident investigator.
Once the two passengers were removed from Rittenhouse's vehicle, they wre transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone at Soda Baptist Church.
Both passengers were flown to Conroe Regional Hospital.
