Motorcycle Driver Passes Away from Injuries, LIVINGSTON, May 2, 2024 - The motorcycle driver who slammed into the back of a pickup passed away from his injuries. On Wednesday night (05/01/24) a 2002 Honda Shadow, driven by Eric Clay New, 49, of Livingston, was west-bound on FM-3277 when he slammed into the back of a west-bound 1999 Dodge pickup driven by Walter Carl Nelson, III, of Cleveland. Nelson had slowed to make a turn when New slammed into the back of Nelson's pickup (Next to Scenic Loop Grocery). New was rushed to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital in critical condition. New passed away shortly after arriving at CHI Memorial. Justice of the Peace, Sarah Rasberry filed an inquest. Nelson nor his passengers were injured. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

A motorcycle slammed into the back of a pickup on Scenic Loop at around 10 pm last night (05/01/24).
Driver of Motorcycle Rear Ends Pickup, Critical Condition, SCENIC LOOP, May 2, 2024 - At around 10 pm on May 1, 2024, the driver of a gray Dodge pickup was west-bound on FM-3277 when he was slammed from behind by the driver of a red Honda motorcycle in the 3375 block of 3277 (next to Scenic Loop Grocery). The impact threw the driver from his motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet (the names of the drivers have not yet been released). Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Johnny Wilkerson with the Texas Highway Patrol. The driver of the motorcycle was rushed by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Dodge and his passengers were physically okay. All traffic on 3277 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. The motorcycle was recovered by Smith Towing while the Dodge pickup was recovered by Pop's Wrecker Service. As soon as the identifications of the drivers are released we'll update the story. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
This dog was riding in the bed of the pickup when the motorcycle crashed into the back of the truck. The dog was okay.
