Accident on Business 59 Sends Livingston Woman to Hospital, LIVINGSTON, April 30, 2008 - According to Livingston Police Officer Chad Ward, at approximately 5:10 pm a maroon 1998 Mercury Mystique driven by Stacy Ann Lyons, 22, of Livingston was south bound on Business 59 when the front half of her car was broad sided by a 1998 GMC pickup driven by Betty Jean McKissick, 18, of Livingston. The collision slammed Lyons' front driver's side when McKissick was west bound crossing from North Houston and failed to yield right of way. Lyons was carefully extracted from her car and put on a stretcher while EMS personnel worked on her. Both airbags in the Mercury Mystique deployed. The Livingston Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene with a fire engine and assisting medics. There were two ambulances from Americare Ambulance Service and 1 Ambulance from Lone Star EMS. Also at the scene were DPS Troopers Darwon Evans, Nita Bowen, Kevin Ward, and several Polk County Sheriff's Deputies. Lyons was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital via Americare Ambulance Service. McKissick was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way. Both drivers had insurance. A rollback wrecker from Ken's towing towed both vehicles away. The scene was cleared up shortly after 6pm.
