A Livingston Fireman looks at a welding rig that ignited and burned at the edge of the shoulder of the north-bound side of US-59 in Livingston.
Disconnected Trailer Crashes and Catches Fire, LIVINGSTON, May 2, 2011 - At approximately 8:30 pm on April 28, 2011, Aaron Kyle McChesney, 30, of Alvin was south-bound on US-59 in Livingston.  McChesney and his 26 year old brother, Earl, were in a large black pickup pulling a trailer with tools that they use for working.  The trailer came disconnected and crashed in the median.  A can of gas in the trailer ignited causing a fire and burning their welding rig amongst other items.  The Livingston Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with Livingston Police Officers Adam Williford, Dallas Early, and Sergeant Darrell Newman.  Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.  Firemen quickly extinguished the fire.  McChesney had insurance and no citations were issued.

A very similar crash happened on March 23, 2011 in almost the same spot.

Tools and other instruments of work littered the median between the north and south bound sides of US-59 near Lowe's.
The trailer came disconnected from this Ford pickup.
Sergeant Darrell Newman (left) and Officer Adam Williford inspect the trailer hitch.
