This daycare van from Little Britches was slammed from behind with 5 children onboard. Several were hospitalized.
SUV Slams Into Back of Daycare Van, Several Hospitalized Including Children, LIVINGSTON, April 26, 2012 - At approximately 3:40 pm on April 26, 2012, a daycare van with Little Britches Daycare driven by Joann Williams, 73, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-146. Williams was waiting for the north-bound side of the road to be clear so she could make her left turn when she was slammed from behind by a white 2010 Ford Edge driven by Terri Burns, 43, of Livingston. The collision sent Burns' vehicle to the right side of 146 while Williams managed to get her van parked in the driveway at Little Britches. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Officer Brandon Brewer with the Livingston Police Department, Trooper Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol, and several deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office. There were 5 children in the daycare van, several were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Terri Burns was trapped in her vehicle and firemen used the jaws-of-life to free her. Burns was transported by ambulance to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. All traffic on 146 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Officer Brewer, no citations have been issued at this time as the accident remains under investigation. A rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service recovered Burns' vehicle and it will be stored at 101 Harwood Drive in Livingston. The scene was cleared before 5 pm.

Firemen used the jaws-of-life to free Burns. She was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Several children from the daycare van were also hospitalized.
Trooper Ramey Bass assisted emergency personnel and Livingston Police.
Livingston Police Chief Dennis Clifton (right) helped secure the scene.
Airbags in Burns' vehicle deployed.
Burns' vehicle was recovered by Big Jim Harwood.
