Drunk Drivers Cross Paths and Collide, LIVINGSTON, April 24, 2011 - At approximately 8:40 pm on April 23, 2011, a red 2000 Ford Expedition driven by Rodrigo Carmona, 34, of Livingston, attempted to pull off of Chris Brent Road north onto FM-2457. During his turn, Carmona pulled out too far and partially into the south-bound lane of 2457 and was struck by a south-bound silver 1988 Lincoln Town Car driven by Gerald Wyatt, 40, of Leggett. The two vehicles swiped each other with glancing blows. Carmona's vehicle came to rest on the west-side of 2457 while Wyatt's vehicle came to rest at the corner of Chris Brent Road. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Vance Berry with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Constable Richard Lively, and DPS Troopers Donny Akers and Ramey Bass. Rodrigo Carmona was transported by ambulance to Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Gerald Wyatt was physically okay. According to Trooper Akers, both Carmona and Wyatt were intoxicated and both will be charged with DWI. Trooper Akers administered a field sobriety test on Wyatt who couldn't perform the tasks correctly. Wyatt was cuffed and taken to Polk County Jail and charged with felony driving while intoxicated as this is Wyatt's third DWI. Carmona's vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing and will be stored at Pollock's Body Shop in Livingston while Wyatt's was recovered by a rollback wrecker from LakeView Towing and will be stored at LakeView Storage in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 9:35 pm

The oncoming vehicle was a 1988 Lincoln Town Car driven by Gerald Wyatt. Both drivers were intoxicated.

Deputy Vance Berry and Trooper Akers place Gerald Wyatt under arrest for DWI. According to DPS, this is Wyatt's third DWI and is a felony.
Wyatt's vehicle was towed by LakeView Wrecker Service.
Rodrigo Carmona's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing.
