Driver Crashes Into Tree, Alcohol Suspected, SEGNO, April 22, 2024 - At approximately 10:20 pm on April 21, 2024, a tan 2011 Hyundai Elantra was north-bound on FM-2798.  As the driver was approaching FM-943, he never pressed his brakes, crossed over 943, entered a residential yard, crashed through a fence and slammed head on into a tree.  The driver, Jason Craig Lyons, 39, of Livingston, was reportedly ejected and his head struck the windshield.  Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Segno Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Albert Richard with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol.  EMS personnel loaded Lyons into an ambulance and transported him to a nearby landing zone.  An Air Life Medical Helicopter landed and flew Lyons to Kingwood Hospital with undisclosed injuries.  Alcohol is suspected as there was a heavy smell of alcohol on Lyons and in his vehicle.  Lyons may be facing the charge of driving while intoxicated.  His vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.
