Troopers: Donny Akers (left) and Sergeant Nita Bowen investigate the accident in which one of their own was a victim.
State Trooper Slammed by Pickup, LIVINGSTON, April 20, 2011 - At 1:38 pm on April 19, 2011, DPS Trooper Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol was north-bound on Business 59 in Livingston.  Trooper Bass was suddenly T-boned by a west-bound white 1999 F-150 driven by Maggie Herrell Dunham, 68, of Livingston.  Dunham was driving west-bound on Milam Street and attempted to cross over Business 59 when she slammed Bass' vehicle (a 2008 Crown Victoria).  Bass' patrol unit came to rest on the east-side of Business 59 while Dunham's vehicle stopped in the middle of the north and south-bound lanes of Business 59.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene but was not needed as both Trooper Bass and Dunham were physically okay.  Also dispatched were Police Officers from the Livingston Police Department and DPS Troopers Donny Akers, Chris Stanbery and Sergeant Nita Bowen.  Dunham was issued a citation for failure to yield right-of-way.  Both vehicles were drivable and were driven from the scene.

Special thank you:  Ken from Ken's Towing and Willie A. Openshaw
