Failure to Yield Right of Way Sends Two to Hospital on Pan American Drive, LIVINGSTON, April 21, 2008 - According to Livingston Police Officer Kurt Riley, an accident occurred on Pan American Drive in Livingston. The accident occurred on April 18, 2008 at 6:05 pm when a silver 2007Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Donanna Michelle Evans, 38, of Livingston was traveling south on Pan American Drive (close to Baskins) when a tan 2006 Jeep Cherokee driven by Joehrine S Merka, 73, of Jasper was exiting Southpoint Lane to crossover and travel North on Pan American Drive. Merka failed to yield right of way to Evans and struck Evans' car on the front left side. The Jeep remained in the road as the Mitsubishi came to stop in the grassy median. Both drivers were transported to Livingston Memorial hospital via Americare Ambulance Service. DPS Trooper Shelly Lee arrived to assist as well as Onalaska Police Officer Ashley Brame. Additionally Scott Paske with the Livingston Police Department was at the scene and Sgt. Jason Paske with the Polk County Sheriff's office. Both drivers had insurance and both vehicles were towed away with a rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service.
