2 Vehicle Crash, Driver Hospitalized, LIVINGSTON, April 16, 2025 - At approximately 11:45 am on April 16, 2025, a gray 2017 Dodge Journey driven by Caleb Heabin, 32, of Livingston, was south-bound on Pan American Drive (Business 59). As Heabin was about to pass SouthPoint Strip Center, the driver of a red 2012 Dodge Avenger pulled from the crossover directly in front of him causing a broadside collision. The impact pushed both vehicles to one side of the road. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and Detective Ronald Bogany with The Livingston Police Department. Bogany was assisted by Officer CJ Knighton (also with LPD). Heabin sustained broken bones and was rushed to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. The driver of the red Dodge Avenger (Koateia Sims, 31, of Lufkin) was physically okay. One lane of traffic was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Sims was cited for failure to yield, no driver's license, no insurance. Both vehicles were recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston.

31 year old Koateia Sims, of Lufkin was driving this red 2012 Dodge Avenger. Sims failed to yield to Heabin and will be at fault in the accident (Sims is pictured at right).
Both vehicles were recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston.
