Driver Seriously Injured After Hitting Tree, Alcohol Suspected, SCENIC LOOP, April 13, 2012 - At approximately 4:40 am on April 13, 2012, a white 1997 Ford Explorer driven by Rebecca R. Townley, 30, of Livingston, was west-bound on FM-3126 near Tigerville Road. Townley's vehicle left the road to the left, went through a ditch, went slightly airborne and slammed into a large tree. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Corporal Terri Mayer and Deputy Rey Davalos (both the with Polk County Sheriff's Office) and Trooper David Flowers with the Texas Highway Patrol. Initially, Townley was trapped in her vehicle, but emergency personnel were able to get her door open and loaded her into an ambulance. Townley sustained incapacitating injuries and would've been flown by helicopter, but weather conditions were not right for helicopter flight. Townley was rushed to Livingston Memorial Hospital. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Townley smelled of alcohol and had badly slurred speech as she yelled at EMS personnel from Americare. Townley is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with invalid license, and no insurance. A rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service recovered Townley's vehicle and it will be stored at 101 Harwood Drive in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 6:15 am.
