Driver Fails Yield, Gets Broadsided, LIVINGSTON, April 9, 2015 - Shortly before 4 pm on April 9, 2015, a white 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by Norma Angelica Garcia, 38, of Livingston, was west-bound on Milam Street. Garcia attempted to cross over North Washington but failed to yield to a blue 2005 Saturn Vue driven by Ernesto Medina, 24, of Livingston. Medina's vehicle slammed into the rear half of Garcia's vehicle. The impact spun Garcia's vehicle around facing east, as Medina crossed over the south-bound lanes of North Washington and came to rest in a parking lot. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Officers Kaleb Barker, Brandon Brewer, and Sergeant Lewis Milner with Livingston Police Department. Additionally, Deputy Terri Mayer and Sergeant Jason Paske with the Polk County Sheriff's Office assisted. Ernesto Medina was treated at the scene and transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic on the south-bound side of Washington was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Garcia will be cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign and no driver's license. Both vehicles were recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.

Medina was treated at the scene.
Medina was loaded into an ambulance and transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Both vehicles were recovered by LakeView Wrecker Service.
