Primary Investigator: Trooper Sean Chandler at FM-1988 at 3126.
Houston Man Passes Away After Motorcycle Accident, SWARTWOUT, April 9, 2017 - At approximately 9 pm on April 8, 2017, a black Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Michael Ray Gotcher, 55, of Houston, was north-bound (headed towards Livingston) on FM-1988 South at FM-3126.  Gotcher may have been distracted when he failed to notice a vehicle in front of him had slowed down to make a left onto FM-3126.  Gotcher locked up his brakes and lost control as his bike laid down and slid off the pavement to the right and tumbled.  Gotcher was ejected.  Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Sean Chandler and Zach Lenderman with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Gotcher was loaded into the ambulance and CPR was administered.  He was transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  Justice of the Peace, Sarah Arnett, performed an inquest.  Traffic on 1988 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup.  A rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker recovered Gotcher's motorcycle and it was stored in Livingston.  The accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
