Livingston Youth Fails to Yield, Major Accident Ensues, 4 Flown, SPRING CREEK, April 4, 2018 - At approximately 4:35 pm on April 4, 2018, a black 2002 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Cindy Saffron, 63, of Huntsville, was east-bound on US-190 West. As Saffron approached the intersection of FM-3126, a gray 2006 Chevy Equinox, driven by a 16 year old Livingston female pulled in front of Saffron. The vehicles collided. The impact sent Saffron's vehicle off the pavement on the west-bound side where her vehicle impacted a pole. The Chevy spun around and came to rest facing south in the intersection. Americare and Allegiance Ambulance Services were dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies Terry Mayer and Adrian Ontiveros with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Ashlee White and Allen Stanton with the Texas Highway Patrol. The minor driving the Chevy did not have a driver's license. Her three passengers (also minors) were flown from a nearby landing zone. She (youth driver) was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. As for Saffron, she was flown from the scene in critical condition. All traffic on 190 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. In addition to failure to yield and no driver's license, the driver of the Chevy is possibly facing a list of other citations. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered both vehicles and they'll be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
