18 Wheeler Crashes Into Creek Near Corrigan, CORRIGAN, April 4, 2012 - At approximately 2:30 am on April 4, 2012, an 18 wheeler hauling potato chips and driven by Rodrigo Garza, 54, of Houston, was north-bound on US-59 near Dry Creek. According to Garza, strong winds and heavy rain forced his truck to veer off the road to the left. Garza's rig rolled headfirst directly into Dry Creek where an embankment of dirt stopped his rolling truck. Garza got out of his truck and was physically okay. Officer Dana Vanya with the Corrigan Police Department was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol. Traffic was not blocked during investigation, however, cleanup may cause some traffic congestion. Garza could be facing charges pending the totality of the investigation. Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan was summoned to clean up the mess. At time of press (7 am, April 4), the mess is still being cleaned up.
Almost surreal: The huge 18 wheeler fades down into the darkness between the north and south-bound sides of US-59 just south of Corrigan.
The dirt embankment halted the mammoth machine. Driver Rodrigo Garza, of Houston, wasn't injured.
