Livingston Woman Life-Flighted After Major Accident at Midway Loop, MIDWAY, April 4, 2008 - According to DPS Trooper, Darwon Evans, at approximately 7:15 pm on April 3, 2008, a major accident occurred at Midway East Road and 190. Sarah J. Williams, 56, of Livingston was driving a maroon colored 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup and broad sided a 2001 grey Ford F-250 driven by Stanton Allen Watson, 27, of Cuero, Texas on the driver's side. The accident occurred when Watson, who was pulling out onto 190 from Midway East Road, failed to yield right of way to Williams who was traveling west on 190. Watson pulled out in front of Williams and suddenly changed his mind and decided to put his truck in reverse, by this time Williams had slammed on her brakes and her brakes locked up and she slammed into Watson's truck. Watson had a mildly injured head but did not need the assistance of an Ambulance. Williams, on the other hand, was seriously injured and required the services of an Ambulance. An Ambulance from Lone Star EMS arrived on the scene to tend to Williams. Williams was transported to another location and life-flighted to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Polk County Sheriff's Deputy James Buie arrived on the scene and assisted EMS in treating Williams. Airbags in neither vehicle deployed. Williams did wear a seatbelt, and according to Trooper Evans, Watson did not wear a seatbelt. Watson was issued a citation for failure to yield right-of-way, and Williams was given a citation for driving without a license. Both drivers had insurance. There was a rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service and a rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service.
