State Game Warden, Dornell Crist drove upon this accident and radioed to the Sheriff's Office for help.
Driver Slams Into Large Pine Tree and Survives, SWARTWOUT, March 31, 2014 - At approximately 6:50 pm on March 31, 2014, a maroon Chevy 1500 pickup driven by Jeremy Walker, 28, of Livingston, was east-bound on FM-1988 West.  According to Walker, he reached into the back of his truck to open the back window when his pickup left the road to the left, drove through the grass and slammed into a large pine tree as he attempted to cut back onto the pavement.  The impact spun Walker's pickup around facing north.  State Game Warden, Dornell Crist happened to be passing by and drove upon the accident.  Crist notified the Polk County Sheriff's Office who dispatched an ambulance from Americare Ambulance Service, Deputy Cody Hardy with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Walker was treated at the scene by personnel from Americare and later transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital by private vehicle.  Traffic on 1988 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup.  According to Trooper Burman, no citations have been issued as the accident remains under investigation.  A rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker recovered Walker's vehicle and it will be stored in Livingston.
