Volunteer Firemen work to remove Larry Skinner from his vehicle.
Rollover Accident on Millgate Road, LIVINGSTON, March 29, 2009 - At approximately 6:20 pm on March 29, 2009 a red 1997 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Larry Skinner, 20, of Colmesneil, Texas was east-bound on Millgate Road just a short distance US-146. As Skinner approached a curve near Jefferson Davis he was coming too fast and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle skidded to the left of the road and rolled one time and landed upright facing the opposite direction of travel. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Polk County Sheriff's Deputy, Lee Rogers and DPS Trooper Brent Henry. Also a surplus of volunteer firemen from the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department arrived led by Chief Deputy, John Haynes. Skinner was trapped in his vehicle and firemen utilized the jaws-of-life to cut out the windshield of Skinner's car, and then lifted off the roof to gain access for EMS Personnel. Skinner was removed from his vehicle, treated, and loaded on an ambulance and transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. All traffic on Millgate Road was blocked as the accident was being investigated and cleared. Skinner had insurance but will be issued a citation for unsafe speed. A rollback wrecker from Fawbush Wrecker Service recovered Skinner's vehicle and it will be stored a Fawbush Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing shortly before 7:30 pm.
