Collision Hospitalizes 2, PROVIDENCE, March 27, 2024 - Shortly after 5 pm on March 27, 2024, a black 2019 Ford Edge, driven by Nancy Briton, 75, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-146. As Briton was about to pass Providence Road, a black 2020 Nissan Sentra, driven by Alauna Lester, 22, of Livingston, pulled off of Providence directly in front of Briton. Briton's vehicle broad sided Lester's vehicle. Lester's vehicle slid off the pavement into the grass on the north-bound side of 146 while Briton's vehicle spun around and came to rest on the pavement facing north. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Trooper Johnny Wilkerson with the Texas Highway Patrol. Lester was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone and flown from the scene. Briton was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on 146 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Lester is facing a citation for failure to yield. Briton's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston while Lester's vehicle was recovered by Dan's Towing and will also be stored in Livingston.
