Logging Truck Rollover, BARNES, March 24, 2023 - At approximately 10:05 am on March 24, 2023, an 18 wheeler logging truck was east-bound on FM-942 East. For some reason, the 18 wheeler, driven by Curtis Broom, 60, of Woodville, left the pavement to the right and turned over losing it's load of logs (just west of FM-1745). Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Michael McDuffie with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Sean Barnes and David Morris with the Texas Highway Patrol. Broom was pinned in his rig when a witness to the wreck ran over and helped him get out. Broom had a bump on his head, but was otherwise okay and refused medical treatment. Traffic on 942 was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Broom was cited for failure to maintain a single land of traffic. A heavy duty wrecker was sent for to clean up the mess.
