1 Wreck Takes out 2 Utility Poles, BLANCHARD, March 23, 2017 - At approximately 10 am on March 23, 2017, a white Hyundai Sonata, driven by Eugene Madison Insall, 78, of Livingston, was south-bound on FM-2457. Insall attempted a left turn onto Chris Brent Road and was struck on the driver's side by a red Dodge Ram 1500 that was pulling a trailer and driven by Dexter Ray Hill, 58, of Livingston. Hill was also south-bound on 2457 and attempted to pass Insall just as Insall made his turn. Hill's vehicle left the pavement to the left and struck a utility pole and snapped in half. The weight and tension from the broken utility pole stressed another utility pole and snapped it in half. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Terri Mayer with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Sean Chandler and Chris Cain with the Texas Highway Patrol. Additionally, a crew from Sam Houston Electric Cooperative was dispatched to deal with the utility poles. Insall was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Hill was physically okay. Hill will likely receive a citation for failure to control speed. Insall's vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker and it will be stored in Livingston. Hill's vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from George White & Sons out of Onalaska.
