Pan American and Baskin's Parking lot has seen multiple accidents in the last year.
Two People Hospitalized in Accident on Pan American Drive, LIVINGSTON, March 20, 2009 - At approximately 5:30 pm on March 20, 2009, a silver late model Hyundai Accent driven by Janette Smith, 63, of San Antonio was west bound on Pan American Drive when a gold colored Chevy Pickup driven by David Wisenhut, 46, of Livingston pulled out of Baskin's parking lot directly in front of Smith, failing to yield right-of-way. Smith's vehicle slammed broadside into the driver's side of Wisenhut's truck. Wisenhut managed to pull his truck over to the right of the road while Smith's stopped at the point of impact. 2 Americare Ambulances were dispatched to the scene along with Livingston Police Officers Rob Atkins, Chad Lilley, and Lewis Milner. Traffic in both lanes of the west-bound side of Pan American were rerouted to the shoulder. Smith's airbags deployed and she had to be carefully removed from her vehicle by EMS Personnel and loaded onto an ambulance and transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. Wisenhut's female passenger was also loaded onto an ambulance and transported to Livingston Memorial. Both parties had insurance. A rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker towed Smith's vehicle and it will be stored at Harwood in Livingston, while Wisenhut's vehicle was towed by a rollback wrecker from Fawbush Wrecker Service and it'll be stored at Fawbush on US-59 North in Livingston. The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing by 6:20 pm.
