Woman Sustains Serious Neck Injuries in 4 Wheeler Accident, BIG SANDY, March 17, 2012 - At approximately 10:20 pm on March 16, 2012, a white 2010 Kawasaki Prairie 360 driven by Kalen Cox, 21, of Big Sandy, was west-bound on Lambright Road and attempted a right turn onto FM-1276. Cox lost control of the 4 wheeler and rolled the ATV one time. The vehicle came to rest in the middle of 1276. During the accident Cox sustained serious neck injuries. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Indian Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Craig Taylor with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Kevin Burman and Darwon Evans with the Texas Highway Patrol. Cox was treated at the scene by EMS personnel and transported to Lufkin Memorial Hospital by Ambulance. Cox's passenger appeared to be physically okay and refused ambulance services. Traffic on 1276 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Trooper Burman, Cox is possibly facing a citation for operating a 4 wheeler on a state or county road. The scene was cleared shortly before midnight.
