11 Year Old Boy Flown From Off Road Vehicle Accident, LIVINGSTON, March 16, 2010 - At approximately 9:23 am on March 16, 2010, a 2009 Kawasaki Mule driven by an eleven year old boy was north-bound on McBride Road near FM-350 North. According to witnesses, the youngster was talking in his cell phone and got distracted from his driving and his off-road vehicle veered to the right, struck a stump and rolled. The vehicle rolled on its right side pinning the boy's neck under a roll bar. The father and other people were able to lift the vehicle off the boy's neck and get him from underneath the vehicle. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with DPS Trooper Darwon Evans, Corporal Sam Lattner, and Trooper David Morris. EMS personnel treated the boy at the scene and transported him to Livingston Memorial Hospital where he was picked up by a PHI Air Medical helicopter and flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston with serious injuries. No citations were issued in the unfortunate accident. The scene was cleared by 10:45 am.
