Accident Hospitalizes 3, GOODRICH, March 15, 2018 - At approximately 7:10 pm on March 15, 2018, a black 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Christopher Whitehead, 19, of Houston, was south-bound on US-59 in Goodrich. Whitehead's vehicle suddenly slammed into a black 2008 Chevy Cobalt, driven by Edward Billy James, 19, of Livingston. James attempted to crossover from the north-bound side of 59 to the south end of Loop 393 and failed to yield to Whitehead. Whitehead's vehicle left the pavement to the right and came to rest in the grass on the right side of 59 South while James' vehicle came to rest on the pavement of the south-bound side of 59. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Holiday Lake Estates and Goodrich Volunteer Fire Departments, Sergeant David Ramsey and Corporal Jason Burleson with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers John Allen and Colton McQuilkin with the Texas Highway Patrol. Whitehead and two of his passengers were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. James was physically okay. One lane of traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. James was cited for failing to yield right-of-way at a crossover. James' vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service and will be stored in Goodrich. Whitehead's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.

19 year old Edward Billy James, of Livingston, was driving this 2008 Chevy Cobalt and attempted to crossover from the north-bound side of US-59 to the south end of Loop 393, but failed to yield.
19 year old James Whitehead, of Houston, was south-bound of 59 and slammed into James' vehicle.
Whitehead's pickup left the pavement to the right and came to rest in the grass on the right side of 59 South. Whitehead is laying in the grass and being tended to.
Trooper John Allen cited Edward James for failure to yield right-of-way at a crossover.
