A 20 year old was hospitalized when another driver failed to yield right-of-way.
20 Year Old Hospitalized in Accident, LIVINGSTON, March 14, 2010 - At approximately 6:50 pm on March 14, 2010, a black 1995 Dodge truck driven by John Thompson, 46, of Livingston was north-bound of FM-3126 when he attempted to turn left onto Harden Road (across from Yarborough Loop). Thompson failed to yield right-of-way to a south-bound gold colored Hyundai Sonata driven by Samantha Shelby, 22, of Livingston. Shelby's vehicle slammed into the side of Thompson's truck as both vehicles came to rest in the road. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy William Jerry, and DPS Trooper Chris Stanbery. Traffic was partially blocked as the accident was being investigated and cleared. Shelby's passenger, Elizabeth Duke, 20, was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Thompson admitted to have drunken 2 beers prior to the accident but was not legally intoxicated. Thompson was cited for an open container of alcohol, failure to yield right-of-way, and possibly no insurance. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Shelby's vehicle and it will be stored at Polock's Body Shop in Livingston and Thompson's vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service and it will be stored at LakeView in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 7:50 pm.
John Thompson's 1995 Dodge sustained heavy damage.
Samantha Shelby's Hyundai Sonata also sustained heavy damage.
Both of Sheby's airbags deployed.
