A Livingston truck driver was involved in a 2 vehicle fatal crash in San Augustine. The following is a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety:
SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (March 9, 2018) – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a two vehicle fatality crash early this morning at the intersection of SH 103 and FM 1277.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 2 a.m., a 2014 Dodge pickup was traveling south on FM 1277. The driver of the pickup reportedly disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of SH 103 and drove into the path of a 2006 Freightliner truck tractor that was traveling west on SH 103.
The driver of the pickup is identified as Gary Sturrock, 23, from Pineland, TX. Sturrock was pronounced deceased at the scene by a San Augustine County Justice of the Peace.
The driver of the truck tractor is identified as Luther Turner Jr., 41, from Livingston, TX. Turner was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin for treatment.
This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
