Vehicle Slammed from Behind, 1 Hospitalized, LIVINGSTON, March 7, 2018 - At approximately 2:50 pm on March 7, 2018, a silver 1999 Ford F-150, driven by Michael Vann Campbell, 54, of Livingston was east-bound on US-190 East. Campbell stopped to make a left turn into his driveway (on the west-bound side). As Campbell was waiting for his chance to turn, he was slammed from behind by a blue 2002 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Joseph Garner, 19, of Onalaska. Garner was also west-bound behind Campbell and was apparently distracted when he slammed into Campbell. Campbell's pickup was knocked off the pavement on the west-bound side, down an embankment and into the weeds. Garner's vehicle came to rest in the middle of the pavement on the west-bound side. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies Andy Lowrie and Christian Schanmier with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Darwon Evans, Ashlee White, Chris Cain and Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Campbell was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. No other injuries were reported. Traffic on both sides of 190 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Garner was cited for failure to control speed. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Garner's vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Campbell's vehicle was recovered by a rollback from Fawbush Wrecker Service and will be stored in Goodrich.
